How to route TalkTalk Business calls to NORANGO

Separate basic Call Divert from the more capable SIP Trunk Call Manager and UCaaS routes before deciding how calls should reach NORANGO.

TalkTalk: set or clear the Call Divert condition

For the applicable basic TalkTalk Call Divert feature, choose the condition you need. SIP Trunk and UCaaS environments use their own administration layer.

  • Divert all calls: *21*destination# — deactivate with #21#
  • Divert if unanswered: *61*destination# — deactivate with #61#
  • Divert if busy: *67*destination# — deactivate with #67#

Important: Confirm that the inbound number uses the basic Call Divert feature before dialling a code. Check diverted-call costs and use Call Manager for a SIP Trunk environment.

TalkTalk's published Call Divert guidance covers unconditional, no-answer and engaged-call forwarding on the applicable telephone service. Its business SIP and UCaaS material describes a different administrative layer for an existing SIP-enabled PBX or cloud collaboration platform.

A good connection plan avoids applying basic handset codes to a service that should instead be managed through a business portal or a qualified SIP design.

Where NORANGO can join the call journey

There is no need to replace a working phone system simply to improve call handling. The practical decision is which calls should reach NORANGO, and at what point.

1. Divert the calls you choose

Keep the number with its current provider and forward all calls, or only calls that meet an agreed condition, to NORANGO. Available conditions and charges depend on the provider product.

2. Let your team try first

Keep users, a hunt group, queue or opening-hours rule ahead of NORANGO. The handover happens when the first call path is busy, unanswered, overflowing or closed.

3. Use a compatible direct route

Some cloud and PBX environments may support a more direct connection. NORANGO confirms the provider product, permissions and technical route before proposing it.

4. Port the number when it suits you

Porting is a separate long-term option, not a requirement to begin. A number hosted with NORANGO can still route callers to agreed people, teams and departments.

What callers experience

When your team is busy

Caller → your business number → usual team or queue → no answer, busy or overflow condition → NORANGO. Your callers still meet the team path you have chosen first; NORANGO becomes the useful next step rather than a missed call.

When your office is closed

Caller → your business number → opening-hours rule → out-of-hours route → NORANGO. Daytime routing can remain as it is while evenings, weekends, holidays or planned coverage follow the agreed reception journey.

When a call needs to return to your business

NORANGO follows the agreed greeting, information capture, booking, escalation and transfer path. The call or its context can return to the agreed person, department or team when that is the right next step.

Three TalkTalk decision paths

Basic Call Divert

TalkTalk documents all-call, no-answer and engaged diversion actions on its applicable telephone feature.

SIP Trunk Call Manager

TalkTalk Business documents central routing, inbound handling and call-divert controls for its SIP Trunk offering.

UCaaS

TalkTalk Business offers UCaaS solutions; their administrative controls depend on the selected deployment.

Example: unanswered TalkTalk calls reach NORANGO

TalkTalk's general guide documents a 21-second no-answer divert condition for the applicable Call Divert feature. Agree whether that timing works for your callers before enabling it.

A controlled setup

1. Identify the account product

Confirm whether the inbound number is on the basic Call Divert feature, a SIP Trunk or a UCaaS environment.

2. Use the documented setting

For the applicable basic feature, TalkTalk documents *21*destination#, *61*destination# and *67*destination#, with matching #21#, #61# and #67# deactivation actions.

3. Confirm call cost and reverse route

TalkTalk states that each diverted call incurs the cost from the landline to the destination under applicable call costs or included minutes. Confirm that position for the business product before going live.

Diversion versus business routing

Does TalkTalk Call Divert create an IVR?

The public Call Divert instructions describe forwarding conditions. TalkTalk's SIP Trunk material separately references Call Manager administration of hunt groups and IVRs.

How long before no-answer diversion?

TalkTalk's general Call Divert guide specifies 21 seconds for the documented no-answer option. Verify that the feature and timing apply to your business line.

Are diverted calls charged?

TalkTalk states that the diverted leg is charged under typical UK call costs or may be covered by applicable included minutes or Boosts. Check your current business agreement.

Can an existing PBX connect through TalkTalk SIP?

TalkTalk Business states that SIP Trunking connects an existing SIP-enabled PBX over IP. Technical suitability, security and configuration remain provider/project specific.
