Virgin Media Business: portal or eligible handset code

Cloud Voice is configured in the Business Portal. These codes apply only to an eligible Business Phone Line over Broadband service after Call Divert is activated.

  • All calls — eligible line: *21*divert number#
  • When busy — eligible line: *67*divert number#
  • No answer — eligible line: *61*divert number#

Important: Do not apply handset actions to Cloud Voice or SIP Trunking. Cloud Voice routing belongs in the Business Portal, and external diversion can be chargeable under the applicable tariff.

Virgin Media Business has more than one telephone architecture. Cloud Voice uses business portal features such as forwarding, hunt groups and central queues. Business Phone Line over Broadband uses a different, handset-led approach for applicable call-divert features.

A suitable NORANGO route begins with identifying which service owns the inbound number and which current routing features your business has enabled.

Where NORANGO can join the call journey

There is no need to replace a working phone system simply to improve call handling. The practical decision is which calls should reach NORANGO, and at what point.

1. Divert the calls you choose

Keep the number with its current provider and forward all calls, or only calls that meet an agreed condition, to NORANGO. Available conditions and charges depend on the provider product.

2. Let your team try first

Keep users, a hunt group, queue or opening-hours rule ahead of NORANGO. The handover happens when the first call path is busy, unanswered, overflowing or closed.

3. Use a compatible direct route

Some cloud and PBX environments may support a more direct connection. NORANGO confirms the provider product, permissions and technical route before proposing it.

4. Port the number when it suits you

Porting is a separate long-term option, not a requirement to begin. A number hosted with NORANGO can still route callers to agreed people, teams and departments.

What callers experience

When your team is busy

Caller → your business number → usual team or queue → no answer, busy or overflow condition → NORANGO. Your callers still meet the team path you have chosen first; NORANGO becomes the useful next step rather than a missed call.

When your office is closed

Caller → your business number → opening-hours rule → out-of-hours route → NORANGO. Daytime routing can remain as it is while evenings, weekends, holidays or planned coverage follow the agreed reception journey.

When a call needs to return to your business

NORANGO follows the agreed greeting, information capture, booking, escalation and transfer path. The call or its context can return to the agreed person, department or team when that is the right next step.

Start with the telephone architecture

Cloud Voice

Virgin Media Business describes Cloud Voice as a hosted system with forwarding, hunt groups, central queues and Auto Attendant capabilities.

Business Phone Line over Broadband

Applicable lines can use documented handset call-divert actions for all calls, busy or unanswered calls after the feature is activated.

SIP Trunking

Virgin Media Business documents managed SIP Trunking for a compatible existing PBX and SBC architecture.

Example: Cloud Voice overflow to NORANGO

Where Cloud Voice is configured with the relevant feature, an existing queue or Hunt Group can remain in place while defined calls move to NORANGO. Agree the trigger and caller treatment before editing a live rule.

Configuration approach

1. Identify the service

Confirm Cloud Voice, Business Phone Line over Broadband or SIP Trunking, and preserve the existing call route.

2. Apply the correct documented method

For applicable Business Phone Line over Broadband services, Virgin documents *21*divert number# for all calls, *67*divert number# for busy and *61*divert number# for unanswered calls after activation. Cloud Voice configuration belongs in the Business Portal.

3. Test the chosen route

Test from an external number for the precise condition you enabled, including the reversal action if the route is no longer needed.

Choose a connection route

Can Cloud Voice route calls by hunt group?

Virgin Media Business describes hunt groups and central queues within Cloud Voice. The account's specific routing controls and destination options should be confirmed in the Business Portal.

Are Business Phone Line over Broadband diversions charged?

Virgin states that diversion to another number is charged under the applicable tariff, while diversion to voicemail is not charged. Confirm your current tariff.

Can we use SIP Trunking instead of diverting?

Virgin describes SIP Trunking for compatible existing PBX and SBC environments. It is a separate qualified route, not a default call-divert setting.

Can the number be ported?

Virgin publishes number-porting guidance for certain number and destination categories. Porting eligibility and documentation should be checked for your exact service.
